The leaves are slowly starting to change, pumpkin spiced everything is wafting out of bakeries and coffee shops, and the crisp weather is making it the perfect time for a stroll around one of my favorite parts of New York – West Village. While taking an early morning jaunt around the cobble-stoned streets and brownstone-lined sidewalks, I opted for a retro-inspired look that drew upon The Village’s art, music, politics, literature, and progressive culture it was a hub for during the 60s and 70s. I’m normally a sucker for flares, but I’m especially loving the leg slit trend that has taken this fall by storm – it’s a new chance to get creative with footwear and really show off those shoes! With this outfit, I threw on a pair of my favorite white boots by Steve Madden – one of my favorite, wallet-friendly purchases this year. Keeping the rest of the look warm, this sheer pumpkin shirt by Lucy Paris, vintage belt from my mom’s closet (…hi mom!), and some turquoise jewelry sealed the deal.
The star of the show, however, has to be my new catch-all tote by MAHI Leather! Made out of high quality, genuine leather, this cattle-print tote is a breath of fresh air among the leopard, tiger, and snakeskin prints that have been seen on New Yorkers and influencers alike since the end of August. On this particular morning, I was able to easily fit everything from my laptop to a pair of flats in this bag while on my way to Toby’s Estate Coffee for some meetings and freelance work. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be toting this western-inspired piece around for years to come! I highly recommend you check out this quality brand – they have some amazing, customizable pieces that will make perfect gifts come the holidays.
Bonus points that MAHI donates a portion of their profits to FRANK Water Projects, which has helped over 300,000 people gain access to clean water since 2005.
Now, it’s time for me to pack my bags for a quick 72 hours in Charleston! Let’s hope this hurricane doesn’t ruin the fun…
